Between Circuit and the Bustle Embroidery

This woman is very unique. Between her busy embroidering, she instead chooses to be female race cars driver. And the great thing is she became the first woman who is won on classical car race. “I will continue my activity as a driver until I get bored and back to my regular activity; embroidery,” she said.

The first Classic Car Race of 2009 which held by the Indonesian Association of Old Cars Lover (PPMKI) is facing something “weird”. On the event, a woman who is the driver of VW Beatle has won three of six stages on that event which held on Sentul Circuit of Bogor , West Java . “When I open my helmed after I had pass the finish line, other drivers and crews was surprised when they see me,” Dwi Yuni Purbayanti said.

No wondering why drivers and crews was shock, Dwi Yuni Purbayanti or familiarly called as Yuni is the only female race cars driver on that event. Especially, this mother of three children- Tiffany Anandhini Putri, Dinda Unyil and Duduy Itu Gue- are physically looking like a man. “When I use my race costume with helmed, I believe you will never know that I am a female, haha,” she said.

Yuni’s first moment with car was happened on 1997, when her husband Asmarwan, has decided to take over her brother service station, Rektas which location on Pasar Minggu of South Jakarta . She never thought that it will become a way to get a new interesting activity. “I just thinking, our new service station its will like ordinary service station in Jakarta , but I was wrong,” she said. When she acquainting with many VW mechanics, she has realized change her ordinary service to VW only is a good idea. “So, we decide to change it, and its work!” she said.
